The TDI Trimix 75 Diver course in Malta is a high-level open circuit programme designed to extend your depth range to 75 metres using helium-based gas mixes, while keeping the procedures aligned with the standard Trimix workflow.

You’ll complete structured training dives, staged decompression, and advanced gas management using twinset or sidemount with two stage/deco cylinders – all under the supervision of an experienced technical instructor.

Typical training includes 1 shallow water session and 4 open water training dives, plus required eLearning (some training plans may extend the dive count depending on performance and conditions).

What Can I Do With My Certification?

On successful completion, you are qualified to:

• Plan and conduct open circuit Trimix dives to a maximum depth of 75 metres

• Use helium-based bottom gases with no less than 16% oxygen

• Conduct staged decompression using up to two stage/deco cylinders

Key Differences From Standard TDI Trimix

The Trimix 75 pathway extends beyond the standard Trimix depth limit (commonly 60m) by allowing the use of normoxic gases down to 75m (≥16% O₂). This reduces travel-gas complexity compared to deeper hypoxic programmes while still requiring advanced decompression discipline and helium-based planning.

Practical Skills You Will Train

During the course you’ll develop and be evaluated on:

• Gas management for deep, helium-based dives

• Managing three cylinders in-water (commonly 2 deco + 1 bottom, or 3 deco depending on plan)

• Emergency procedures for gas failure, gas switching, and missed decompression

• Use of ascent reel and lift bag to conduct staged decompression

• Horizontal breath-hold swim (20m) with mask off

Duration

Course duration depends on readiness, weather and logistics. As a planning baseline, allow 5 days for training and flexibility, especially if an evaluation or additional dives are required. Tip: If you can, leave extra days available. In case of bad weather or if additional dives are needed, don’t miss your certification because of a tight travel schedule.
