SSI Try CCR Malta – Experience Closed Circuit Rebreather Diving

Curious about rebreather diving? The SSI Try CCR Malta programme is your opportunity to experience a Closed Circuit Rebreather under the direct supervision of an experienced SSI XR CCR Instructor.

This introductory CCR experience takes place in a controlled confined environment, with the option of a follow-on Open Water dive. Discover how silent, bubble-free diving feels and explore the fundamentals of buoyancy control and trim using a rebreather in Malta’s clear Mediterranean waters.

About the SSI Try CCR Programme

The SSI Try CCR programme is designed to introduce certified divers to the world of Closed Circuit Rebreather diving in Malta.

This entry-level CCR experience allows you to use one of our approved rebreather systems in a safe, structured and instructor-led session. You will gain hands-on familiarity with CCR setup, breathing characteristics and emergency procedures while maintaining a strong focus on buoyancy control and trim.

Upon completion, you will earn the SSI Try CCR recognition rating.

Practical Skills Covered

Confined Water Session

• Rebreather orientation and system familiarisation

• Pre-dive checks and unit setup

• Breathing loop awareness

• Basic buoyancy control on CCR

• Trim and propulsion techniques

• Emergency drills and bailout procedures

The optional Open Water dive allows you to apply these skills in a real diving environment under direct supervision.

SSI Try CCR Requirements

To enrol in SSI Try CCR Malta, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old

• Have a minimum of 12 logged dives

• Hold SSI Open Water certification or equivalent

Duration & Training Schedule

Total Dives:

• 1 Confined Water Session

• 1 Open Water Dive (optional but recommended)

Course Duration:
Approximately 5 hours
