A New Era of Scuba Diving in Malta with SSI

For over 40 years, Dive Systems Malta has been a leader in Scuba Diving in Malta, training thousands of divers and fostering a thriving underwater community. Since 1991, we have proudly offered PADI scuba diving courses, shaping generations of divers.

But as any experienced diver will tell you, staying in one place for too long is never a good thing. 

The world changes, industries evolve, and businesses—just like divers—must adapt to their surroundings. Today, I’m proud to share that Dive Systems Malta is starting a new chapter: we have officially transitioned to SSI (Scuba Schools International) as our primary training agency.

Why Did Dive Systems Malta Transition to SSI?

This decision was not made lightly. After more than three decades with PADI, we carefully evaluated what’s best for our divers and our business. Ultimately, SSI diving in Malta aligned perfectly with our future vision, offering:

• More Flexibility for Divers and Instructors: SSI’s digital learning platform provides convenient, self-paced training, giving divers and instructors more control over their learning experience.
• Stronger Support for Dive Centres: As a leading diving centre in Malta, we value the hands-on support SSI offers its affiliates, ensuring a close working relationship that benefits both students and instructors.
• Enhanced Commercial Viability: Efficiency and sustainability are crucial for a high-volume Malta diving centre like ours. SSI allows us to provide top-tier scuba diving in Malta while maintaining a scalable, business-friendly approach.

Now, as we transition to SSI, we are proud to maintain that same level of excellence. Dive Systems Malta is now an SSI Diamond Dive Centre, a prestigious recognition awarded to top-performing SSI dive centres worldwide. In the coming months, we will take this even further by becoming a fully certified SSI Instructor Training Centre and an SSI Extended Range Technical Diving Centre, ensuring we offer the same elite training opportunities that defined our legacy with PADI.

This transition isn’t just about changing agencies—it’s about ensuring that our divers receive the best possible education, training, and experiences under a system that aligns with our vision for the future.
