The SSI Junior Open Water Diver certification allows your child aged 10 to 14 years to become a fully certified scuba diver. Course Structure & What to Expect

Fun & Interactive Knowledge Sessions

Your child will learn diving theory through SSI’s interactive eLearning program, combined with classroom sessions that encourage curiosity and excitement.

Confined Water Training

• 6 shallow-water training sessions where children learn and master scuba skills in a comfortable and controlled environment.

Open Water Dives

• 4 open-water dives exploring Malta’s rich marine life, practising skills learned, and building confidence in a safe setting.

• Maximum depths:

  • Ages 10–11: up to 12 metres

  • Ages 12–14: up to 18 metres (with direct adult or instructor supervision)

Requirements & Standards

• Minimum Age: 10 years

• Certification Level: SSI Junior Open Water Diver

• Maximum Depth:

  • Ages 10–11: 12 metres (must dive with a certified adult or SSI professional)

  • Ages 12–14: 18 metres (requires adult or SSI professional supervision)

• Medical Clearance: Required parental consent and medical questionnaire completion

Course Duration & Schedule

• Duration: Typically completed in 3–4 days

• Flexible scheduling to accommodate your family’s holiday itinerary
