What Can I Do with My Certification?
As an SSI Divemaster, you’ll be able to:
- Act as a certified assistant for SSI recreational scuba programs.
- Guide certified divers during dive excursions.
- Assist instructors during open water training dives by leading up to two students on excursion dives.
- Register for SSI Ecology Specialty Instructor training programs.
- Enroll in an SSI Instructor Training Course to continue your professional development.
SSI Divemaster Program Duration
The SSI Divemaster program typically takes 35–45 hours to complete, expect to invest 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your previous experience and the pace of the training.
Requirements
To enrol, you must meet the following prerequisites:
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- Logged at least 40 open water dives, totalling 25 hours or more.
- Hold an SSI Diver Stress & Rescue certification or equivalent.
- Hold the following SSI certifications or provide proof of experience with at least five logged dives in each area:
- Deep Diving (beyond 30 meters)
- Navigation
- Night & Limited Visibility
- Recommendation: SSI encourages candidates to complete the Enriched Air Nitrox 40 certification.
What Do I Need to Bring?
- Logbook with proof of required dives.
- Personal scuba equipment (rentals available if needed).
- Writing materials for academic sessions.
