Exiles Reef in Sliema
Exiles Reef in Sliema, Malta is an extraordinary house reef that offers many amazing diving experiences with a plethora of underwater flora and fauna. One of its most prominent areas is the posedonia fields. These fields are covered with vibrant and thriving marine life, waiting for you to explore them. A sandy area, whose depth varies between 10 to 20 meters is home to young stingrays. The sight of them furtively gliding through the sandy floor is truly breathtaking.
Both the shallow, and the deep reef provide different experiences for divers. The shallow reef is brimming with a wide variety of fish, and one of the most commonly seen species is the wide-eyed flounder. Cuttlefish can also be spotted, and it is normal to see the dusky grouper along the wall. Dentex fish can be witnessed hunting for small fish out in the open waters.
The end of the dive is a great opportunity to explore the shallow water area near the shore. This place is a splendid haven where you will be able to observe amazing marine creatures such as scorpionfish, different species of blennies, and even octopuses. The best way to catch our beautiful octopus friends in action would be during our night dives.
Apart from the amazing marine life, Exiles Reef, on its own, offers an impressive underwater landscape for divers to experience. Giant rocks and boulders, covered in corals and sponges, provide a perfect playground for both divers and marine organisms. New surprises always await unexplored caverns and crevices, leaving divers feeling captivated.
